Burgenland's cycling season begins
The annual “Losradeln” cycling kick-off has already become a beloved tradition. This year, too, the start of the peak cycling season was celebrated with a diverse program. Looking ahead, Burgenland is also set to attract visitors with a host of new features.
Burgenland continues to invest in expanding its cycling infrastructure, resulting in a diverse range of options in Austria’s easternmost province. E-bike enthusiasts will find ideal conditions here, just like leisure cyclists and athletes on road bikes or mountain bikes. Governor and Tourism Director Hans Peter Doskozil confirms: “We’re making a clear statement for sustainable mobility and gentle tourism.” He, too, was pleased to see so many guests take the opportunity to kick off the new season at “Losradeln 2025.” There truly was something for everyone.
Cycle off to eight wonderful places
One of the highlights was the opening of the new skill park at Lake Burgsee. Guided tours and spectacular shows gave curious visitors a chance to experience the park up close. Cyclists explored 40 kilometers of single trails on Geschriebenstein, while the ride along the railway line cycle path offered a more leisurely pace. A guided tour from Bad Tatzmannsdorf to Rechnitz featured scenic stops and a refreshment station along the way. Just a week earlier, the Banana Crew wowed the crowd with stunts in Podersdorf, where the laketownRIDERS and the Millisports Youngstars Sprint Challenge also brought excitement.
“From north to south, a wide range of cycling events attracted numerous cyclists and offered exciting highlights for all ages and cycling enthusiasts,” says Didi Tunkel, Managing Director of Burgenland Tourism. “They took the opportunity to hop on their bikes, enjoy the crisp, fresh spring air, and experience the diverse landscapes of Burgenland.”
Losradeln 2025 was just the beginning of a long outdoor season—more Losradeln events are scheduled for the coming weeks.
Losradeln in Eight Gourmet Towns in Northern Burgenland on April 5 and 6, 2025, offers participants the chance to sample regional specialties while cycling along a scenic 46-kilometer loop. In Lackenbach, Losradeln with Bikes & Draisines will take place on April 5, 2025, featuring a fun-filled program for the whole family. And on April 11, 2025, businesses take center stage with Losradeln 4 Business in Weiden am See.
