"Colourful green" family holidays in the Thuringian Forest

Familux Resorts is building a resort in the Thuringian Forest that combines the valuable experience of the Mayer tourism family from more than three decades of children's vacations with pioneering facilities. With "The Grand Green", a completely new vacation resort is being created that offers even more space for adventure, games and relaxing hours. Hotelier Ernst Mayer is creating a top-class family resort for 50 million euros - right in the heart of the German town of Oberhof, which is popular with winter fans.

Extraordinary-luxurious family adventure

After the Mayer family launched their new umbrella brand "Familux Resorts" back in 2019, they are now going one step further into the future with "The Grand Green". The ground-breaking ceremony on November 29, 2019 marked the start of the new four-star superior family hotel in Oberhof. An extraordinary hotel that nestles perfectly into the landscape between Oberhof's town square and the vast forests of the Rennsteig. The resort is being built as a terraced complex with play and recreation areas, an infinity pool and a 120-metre-long double water slide in the outdoor area. The indoor areas offer plenty of space for further activities for the whole family. Age-related play and sports areas, an indoor go-kart track, a soft play area, a cinema, a theater and a wellness landscape will amaze guests here. The physical well-being is catered for in several restaurants and buffet areas, including panoramic views over the Thuringian Forest. Right behind the hotel is a nature trail for young and old explorers, while the unspoilt forest provides relaxation and soothing air. The secret of Familux Resorts' success is the comprehensive, caring and varied childcare provided by professional educators - childcare is available here from the seventh day of life!

Opening in December 2021

At the end of 2021, The Grand Green is scheduled to begin operations and is expected to be open year-round. Hotelier Mayer has recognised the benefits of Oberhof as a resort: It is a growing holiday destination. The tradition-steeped resort offers numerous recreational pleasures for both winter sports enthusiasts and lovers of the summer months. The Lotto Thuringia Ski Sports Hall is particularly ingenious, as it enables cross-country skiing 365 days a year.
