In the Italian Alps, a Mediterranean paradise that has been growing wine for centuries awakens in March: the Alto Adige Wine Road.

From ski season to wine spring

While the ski season is still at its peak elsewhere, spring is already in full swing along the Alto Adige Wine Road. From March onward, you can watch nature come to life here.

Mediterranean flair between vineyards and lakes

There is a wonderful Mediterranean flair over the fruit trees, palm trees, cypresses and vineyards. The first warm rays of sunshine are reflected in the lake landscapes, such as Kalterer See, the warmest bathing lake in the Alps.

A 2,500 year-old Wine tradition

IDM Südtirol/ Manuel Ferrigato

A 2500-year-old wine tradition is upheld here on one of the oldest wine roads in Italy. The region covers over 4,400 hectares of vineyards and is known for its white and red wines, the local Gewürztraminer and the indigenous South Tyrolean grape varieties Vernatsch (with its varieties Kalterer See and St. Magdalener) and Lagrein. Other outstanding varieties grown here are Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon.
