No quarantine on the return journey to Austria: these vacation countries are affected

The summer holiday is getting closer

New entry regulations have been in force in Austria since May 19. For Countries with low infection numbers, quarantine is no longer required with immediate effect. Instead, proof of vaccination, a negative test or confirmed recovery is sufficient.

In total 34 countries exempted from the quarantine obligation.

No quarantine on return to Austria

We've been waiting a long time for this moment, but now it's finally here: in Austria, the quarantine requirement for some of the most popular vacation destinations such as Italy, Greece and France has been lifted. However, anyone wishing to return home after a stay in these countries will now need a so-called 3-G detection. This means that you can either vaccinated, tested or recovered must be.

Incidentally, all vaccinations that have been approved by the EU Medicines Agency or have undergone a process of WHO have gone through. The Russian vaccine Sputnik V is not valid. However, the vaccine from the Chinese company Sinopharm, which has received emergency approval from the WHO, will apply.

There is no quarantine for these countries

Overall, when entering Austria, the quarantine obligation does not apply to 34 countries. In other words, all those with a low infection rate. This includes:

  • Finland
  • France
  • Liechtenstein
  • Greece
  • Ireland
  • Iceland
  • Israel
  • Italy
  • Latvia
  • Luxembourg
  • Malta
  • Monaco
  • New Zealand
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • San Marino
  • Singapore
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia
  • Spain
  • Switzerland
  • South Korea
  • Czech Republic
  • Hungary
  • Vatican
  • Andorra
  • Australia

Croatia remains under quarantine

Even though many people are pleased that they can travel back to Austria from popular vacation destinations without quarantine, the strict measures are still in place for some countries with a high number of infections. These include, for example Croatia, Sweden, Cyprus, Lithuania and the Netherlands. Anyone who has neither been vaccinated nor recovered must remain in quarantine for at least five days.

The following are also exempt from quarantine Virus variant countries, such as Brazil, India and South Africa.
