Oetker Collection presents tenth Masterpiece Hotel
The Woodward Geneva opens in spring 2021
The renowned Oetker Collection is pleased to announce that it will add The Woodward, a new "masterpiece" hotel in the heart of Geneva, to its exclusive portfolio in spring 2021. Owned by Bastion Holdings, the hotel is located directly on the shores of Lake Geneva and offers breathtaking panoramic views of Mont Blanc. Originally built in 1901 by French architect François Durel in the Post-Haussmann style, the hotel is located on Quai Wilson and is currently undergoing a complete remodel and meticulous redesign by world-renowned architect Pierre-Yves Rochon. With restaurants by Michelin-starred chefs Joël Robuchon and Alain Verzeroli and a 1,200-square-meter spa by Maison Guerlain, guests at The Woodward can expect true moments of indulgence and the unique service for which the Oetker Collection properties are world-famous.
Stylish retreat
Beyond the Woodward's historic façade, guests will find classic and contemporary interiors that offer a stylish retreat with spectacular lake and mountain views in the heart of the city. Each of the 26 suites has been carefully curated with its own character and individual design details such as marble fireplaces and bookshelves. 21 of the suites offer full views of the blue waters of Lake Geneva. The crowning jewels of the property are the Presidential Suitewith private dining room and loggia, decorated in elegant ivory tones and offering panoramic views of the lake from every room, and the Royal Suite, accessible via a private elevator and modeled after the style of a luxurious Parisian apartment.
High class cuisine
World-class culinary experiences are provided by the Atelier de Joël Robuchon and Le Jardinier, whose outposts in New York have both been awarded Michelin stars and are managed by the Bastion Group. After seven years as Executive Chef of L'Atelier in Taipei, Olivier Jean will now take over the culinary leadership at The Woodward. L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon presents the legendary chef's open kitchen concept, offering 36 guests a spectacular culinary experience, as well as two dining rooms that are also available for private dining. Le Jardinier, whose name is a reference by Michelin-starred chef Alain Verzeroli to the French word for "gardener", can be experienced at Woodward for the first time in Europe following its success in New York. Chef Verzeroli, who has held seven stars in the Michelin Guide for eleven consecutive years for Joël Robuchon's three restaurants in Tokyo and whose roots lie in classic French cuisine, is known for creating innovative dishes with vegetables in the lead role, many of which are vegan, lactose-free and gluten-free. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the concept of valuing nature and what it gives us is also reflected in the dining experience. The restaurant is housed in two glassed-in verandas overlooking the lake. Both restaurants will enhance Geneva's culinary scene and focus on the use of local products and suppliers, including the high artisanal quality of Geneva Stettler chocolate and Geneva Castrischer patisserie. Salvatore Martone, a student of Robuchon and Corporate Pastry Chef of the Bastion Group, will also align his personal signature dessert creations with this philosophy. The Woodward will also offer two bars and a tea room as well as a private digestif lounge, which will continue the history of the original bank building into the modern age by transforming a former vault.
Exclusive wellness experience
Well-being is also part of the philosophy of the Oetker Collection. The hotel's 1,200-square-meter spa includes a wellness paradise by Maison Guerlain and a gorgeous indoor pool - at 21 meters, the longest in Geneva. There is also a state-of-the-art gym, two saunas, two steam rooms, two Swedish baths and a Jacuzzi. Guests can enjoy exclusive Guerlain treatments in six wellness suites, including one for couples and one for men.
