Athens, Milan, Paris and Barcelona are the top spots in Europe, while the highest newcomer in the ranking comes from Bratislava.
Drawn up annually by a voting committee of expert mixologist and industry insiders, the 17th World's 50 Best Bars awards took place in Hong Kong on Wednesday. In the run-up to the ceremony, the 51st to 100th places were published in late September. Only one bar from a German-speaking country made it into the top 100 this year: Berlin's trendy Wax on was delighted to come in 57th place. As the "Rising Star" of the scene – awarded by Campari – the Bar Mauro in Mexico City was named "one to watch". Sydney's Tigra + Disco Pantera won the Best Bar Design Award for its amazing interior. Best bartender of the year was Uno Jang of South Korea.
Only four newcomers made it into the top 50 this year, including Sastreria Martinez in Lima, Svanen in Oslo, Hope & Sesame in Guangzhou and – the highest ranked newcomer – the Mirror Bar in Bratislava.
Within the top three, Milan's Moebius Milano made the biggest leap forward – from 38th place in 2024 to 7th this year. Among the top 3, only the positions were swapped: Sips in Barcelona remains in 3rd place, the Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City slipped from 1st to 2nd and Hong Kong's Bar Leone took the top spot.
The highest density of award-winning bars can be found in Paris, London, Barcelona, Milan and Athens. Two bars from Barcelona made it into the top 5 (Sips and Paradiso).
