In 1654, Emmanuel Obrist founded the wine merchant Obrist & Cie in the centre of Vevey. From this point onwards, Obrist developed into one of the most important companies in the Swiss wine world. Obrist recognised the importance of its own vineyards very early on and acquired renowned wineries such as Cos Rocher, for example, which are still owned by the wine trading company today. Today they produce over 600 crus on vineyards ranging from Lavaux to Chablais in the canton of Vaud.
