Christina Artner-Netzl and her parents Franz and Christine Netzl are a well-rehearsed team. Together they vinify wines full of character, finesse and, above all, depth from the family's own vineyards around Göttlesbrunn, in the heart of the Carnuntum wine-growing region. The family winery was founded around 1860 from a mixed agricultural business. Constant striving for the highest quality both in the vineyard and in the cellar has characterised the last generations and allowed the winery to grow to its current 30 hectares of vineyards. As a member of the "Österreichische Traditionsweingüter", the winemaking family's personal goal is to emphasise the uniqueness and typicity of the individual grape varieties with a focus on their provenance. Above all, the characteristics of the individual vineyards are increasingly coming to the fore. The basis for this is, of course, the vines and therefore the cultivation of the vineyards according to organic guidelines. Together they spend hours tinkering in the vineyard and cellar. While Franz contributes his experience, knowledge and tradition, Christina provides new ideas and innovations - in short, they complement each other perfectly, and it is precisely this combination that forms the unmistakable basis of Netzl wines.
Zweigelt is and remains the absolute king among the varieties, as it feels very much at home in the climatic conditions of Carnuntum and its soils. As the basis for almost all wines, Zweigelt is particularly fascinating due to its unbelievable range, as this grape can produce everything from classic fruity wines to savoury, refined wines. As a single-vineyard Zweigelt from the Ried Haidacker 1ÖTW and as the most important part of the top cuvée Anna-Christina from the Ried Bärnreiser 1ÖTW, it forms the top of the range. This is exactly the direction we are heading in, as the old Zweigelt vineyards produce top quality wines every year and therefore have great ageing potential for the future - indigenous, very typical and simply brilliant!
