As befits a winery in the southernmost corner of the Palatinate, the Pinot Noirs shine here. This is because the soils around Schweigen are rich in lime. Family-run wineries like Andreas Grimm's are able to extract this soil treasure in its most enjoyable liquid form. It is always worth mentioning that the Schweigen winegrowers are also allowed to press Palatinate wine from their vineyards on French territory. De Gaulle and Adenauer, the fathers of this special regulation, would certainly be vindicated in their decision at the time over a glass of "âgé".
