Our winery was founded by great-grandfather Michael Müllner in 1860, who started with just under one hectare of vines. In 1921, son Johann (grandfather) added a wine trading business to the small winery.
The vineyard area was then expanded to 14 hectares by 1984 and the wines were marketed in restaurants and hotels in Austria and Germany.
Now Johann Müllner (4th generation) is on the way to developing new vineyards and further expanding the winery.
His brother Michael has been running a pretty old town wine tavern since 1998 and supports the daily work in the vineyard.
While their ancestors prioritized the wine trade, the focus is now on production and the vineyard area has been expanded to 75 hectares to date. We were awarded the Hans Czettel Prize for Nature and Environmental Protection for our exemplary recultivation of the "Faucha" terraced site, which was developed from 19 different vineyards.
Our main focus is clearly on Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, and we supplement our range with a variety of grapes such as Gelber Muskateller, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Neuburger, Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, etc.
Our vineyards are all located in the town of Krems, in the well-known single vineyards such as Weinzierlberg, Kiesling, Sandgrube, Kraxn, Wolfsgraben, Frechau, Kögl, Spiegel, Schützental, Wachtberg etc.
Vinification is carried out with great care and the wine is made in stainless steel. Wines from classified vineyards are processed and partly matured in wooden barrels. They are absolutely natural and stand for reliable quality with great drinking pleasure and clear varietal characteristics.
Ambitions on the international wine markets confirm the chosen path and already show an export share of almost 80% in 21 countries.
