Falstaff Wine Guide Germany 2026

Giving nature as much space as possible, both in the vineyard and in the cellar - this is the motto that guides the Rioler winegrowing family. This results in white wines that - like the Riesling and Pinot Blanc - impressed us with their uncomplicated drinking pleasure. Our tip, the off-dry "Meisterstück", has a very well-balanced flavour that plays with sweetness and acidity. The winery also offers fruit brandies - Bernhard Weich wrote his dissertation on the distillation of Williams-Christ pear brandy. The winery also has a guesthouse and catering facilities.

The Weich winery in Riol cultivates almost nine hectares of vineyards planted with Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Rivaner, Merlot and Burgundy varieties. Winemaker Bernhard Weich also follows the overriding principle of "tampering with nature as little as possible" in the cellar, where the grapes are treated as gently as possible. The juicy and slate-spicy Rieslings in particular show that there is good certain ageing potential here. The winery also has a guest house and a wine bar. A premiere that can be built upon.
