Winnica Turnau is a success story and at the same time a demonstration of what is possible in Poland today. Located in Baniewice in western Pomerania, around 50 kilometers from Szczecin, the winery was only converted to viticulture by the Turnau family in 2010 following the renovation of their parents' farm, which had previously been an orchard thanks to the favourable and mild climate here. Today, Winnica Turnau is the largest winery in Poland with 37 hectares. The cellar master is Frank Faust from Rheinhessen, who learned his winemaking trade from none other than the Rheingau winemaking icon Wilhelm Weil. Frank Faus also produces wine himself in the exclusive Rheingau region. The typical Polish Piwi varieties Solaris, Johanniter and Rondo, as well as the international varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, are cultivated on the parcels with their sandy loess soils. Poland's top gastronomy can no longer do without the wines of Winnica Turnau. In the past, these were still produced with a somewhat palatable residual sweetness, but today the changing taste for dry wines is taken into account. And the quantities produced here, but above all the quality, should be sufficient to supply international markets, which is why Winnica Turnau is shown at the world's most important wine fairs, such as Prowein in Düsseldorf.
