The red wine Batonnage, vintage 2006 from the winery Club Batonnage has been rated in 2018 by Peter Moser with 96 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot from the region Burgenland in Austria.
Deep dark garnet, almost opaque core, purple reflections and subtle rim brightening. Substantial, sweet berry fruit, oak savouriness and cassis, some nougat and black olives, makes one think of Penfolds Grange. Powerful, shows a lot of juice and volume, has a muscular, pronounced fruit style, vivid tannins that linger into the finish. Should enjoy further bottle ageing, a great wine that has not yet reached its drinking maturity.
