The white wine Helio Chardonnay, vintage 2020 from the winery Helio has been rated in 2022 by Anne Krebiehl with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Chardonnay from the region Hawkes Bay in New Zealand.
Harvested from a vineyard less than a kilometre from the ocean. A subtle touch of chalkiness and wet stone on the nose combines with beautiful Mirabelle plum ripeness on the restrained nose. The palate shows that same restraint and presents a slender, taut, bright mid-palate, yet with Chardonnay's customary texture and a richness and ripeness that seems to emanate from the core, yet staying beautifully balanced, nuanced and exquisitely fresh.
