The red wine Basket Press Shiraz, vintage 2011 from the winery Rockford Wines has been rated in 2016 by Ulrich Sautter, Peter Moser, Othmar Kiem with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Syrah from the region Barossa Valley in Australia.
A very charming trace of oxidative patina (which tends to fade rather than strengthen with standing time in the glass), Marsala, fig compote, but also fresh motifs: blueberry, liquorice. Oily and mild on the palate, quite rounded with very fine, flatteringly matured tannin, viscous-ethereal transition to the finish where the tannin finally gains some astringency quite abruptly. Very exciting wine, stylistically completely out of time.
