The red wine Chianti Classico DOCG, vintage 2021 from the winery San Fabiano Calcinaia has been rated in 2023 by Othmar Kiem & Simon Staffler with 86 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Sangiovese, Malvasia Nera, Merlot from the region Chianti in Italy.
Bright ruby red with a brilliant core. On the nose, hints of curry powder and subtle cherry notes, but an unbalanced aroma of tomato sugo. On the palate, savoury and vegetal notes, quite coarse and loosely knit, drying on the finish.
More about the tastingRich, impenetrable ruby-purple with black core. Shows accentuated earthy notes of beetroot and black truffle. Lots of drying, rough tannins on the palate, seems over-extracted.
