The red wine Mayschoss Mönchberg Pinot Noir Reserve, vintage 2016 from the winery Weingut Marc Josten has been rated in 2022 by Ulrich Sautter with 94+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Spätburgunder from the region Ahr in Germany.
Milk chocolate and subtle herbs on the nose, along with a waft of red berries. Slate then emerges with time. In the mouth there's a mellow tannin profile that feels smoothly grounded but intensely tactile-mineral. Juicy, the sweet fruit rounds it all off on the finish, which shows great length of structure and aromatics.
