The white wine Neuburger Spätlese, vintage 1988 from the winery Weingut Piriwe has been rated in 2018 by Peter Moser with 92 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Neuburger from the region Thermenregion in Austria.
Bright golden yellow colour, with silver reflections. Delicate herbal savouriness, tobacco in the background, yellow tropical fruit, nuances of honey and tarragon, with delicate hints of candied orange zest, and fine ethereal notes. Medium-bodied, white peach fruit, well-integrated sweetness, lively acidity with a pleasant citrus touch, a nice honeyed note on the finish, and fresh tropical fruit on the aftertaste. It is amazingly youthful although still a pleasure to enjoy now.
