Originating in Italy, very old red Campanian grape variety, late ripening, low yield. Casavecchia means "old house" and derives from the place of discovery in the municipality of Funari di Pontelatoneab in an old farmhouse. According to DNA analysis, there are genetic relationships with the varieties Catalanesca and Pallagrello Nero.
