Bottle mail: Friederike Duhme recommends these wines for the summer
Falstaff Sommelière of the Year Friederike Duhme from the Esslokal in Hadersdorf am Kamp reveals which wines she particularly enjoys at this time of year and which recipes she recommends to go with them.
Finger food from the grill
Lamb chops with chimichurri and glutinous potatoes – Red wine is a classic accompaniment to lamb, but the summery lightness of the recipe can also be interpreted in a more unconventional way. Gernot and Heike Heinrich's new Naked Orange NV has energy and power, fruit and backbone. Perfect with the intense grilled flavors of lamb as well as the fresh, sour style of chimichurri. Please enjoy well chilled in the evening summer sun and in good company.

Grilled trout
Grilled trout with grilled potatoes and sauce verde – Welschriesling, Olaszrizling, Wösch. No matter what you call it, this dish calls for smoky spice and freshness. And the Olaszrizling from Julia and Christoph Wachter-Wiesler from southern Burgenland, who like to bottle yeasty, reductive white wines, can deliver. I hope they are also happy with this pairing at the Hirschen – please invite them to the next summer party!

Bubbles for the whirlpool
Cherry strudel with elderflower cream – it literally calls for sparkling wine! Cherry strudel is a quintessentially Austrian dessert, and yet a German sparkling wine fits the bill perfectly: Blanc de Noirs Tradition Brut from Griesel & Compagnie from the smallest German wine-growing region – the Hessische Bergstrasse. Brioche for butter and breadcrumbs, red fruit for the cherry and mineral freshness for the elderberry. Here's to German-Austrian friendship!
