Port Cocktails Now Available in Cans

Port wine gets a contemporary makeover with ready-to-drink cocktails: Croft's Pink Port and Taylor's Chip Dry White Port.

Two Port houses have released ready-to-drink cocktails in 250ml cans. Both use tonic water as a mixer.

Croft Port presents Pink & Tonic, while Taylor‘s Port offers Chip Dry & Tonic, one of Portugal‘s most popular aperitifs made with white Port. Adrian Bridge, CEO of the Fladgate Partnership which owns both brands, hopes that the cans “will help to bring more consumers to appreciate Port wine.“

Bridge noted that much research went into creating the cocktails: "People frequently ask me what's the perfect ratio of a perfect Port and Tonic. That's what we've done and by making our own special dry tonic water. Taylor's Chip Dry & Tonic is the culmination of two years of work alongside the Port Wine Institute."

Bridge stresses the spirit of innovation that drives Croft Port in particular:"Despite its long history and reputation, Croft never let itself be limited by tradition and in 2008 launched the first rosé Port wine: Croft Pink, which surprised everyone by its boldness and novelty." Mixed with tonic water, the pink Port makes a fruity aperitif.

Considered a world-first, the cans will be available in the UK, the US and Portugal and, said Bridge, “demonstrate the versatility and range of Port wine.“
