The Most Beautiful Islands in the World

Our list of the most beautiful islands in the world is curated for your perfect summer getaway.

Never-ending summer fun is available year-round on these tropical islands. Enjoy the sounds, vibes and flavours of summer in these wonderful island getaways.

Bora Bora

Picturesque Bora Bora is one of the most celebrated islands in the South Pacific, with its famous blue waters and unique location. The island's volcanic past has left a dramatic peak, known as Mt Otemanu, surrounded by a large, splendid lagoon. The 18th-century British explorer James Cook described Bora Bora as the "Pearl of the Pacific."

The best times to visit are the shoulder months of April and November, when the weather is fine and there are fewer tourists. Bora Bora is the ultimate definition of paradise with its beautiful palm trees, gorgeous sandy beaches and far-off views of the horizon. Its exotic beauty and warm local people will leave you speechless.

Maldives

One of the most famous and stunning island groups in the world, the Maldives is home to extensive marine life: sea turtles, dolphins, manta rays, sharks and schools of beautiful fish. Its 1,192 coral islands and 26 atolls offer nature enthusiasts and beach lovers a magical treasure box.

Spend your days gazing at the endless blue and bright green surroundings. When the sun goes down, sit on the beach and watch the enchanting, pinkish-purple sky. No matter if it is your first visit or your tenth, it is hard not to be blown away by the stunning landscapes in the Maldives.

Santorini

Famed as a top location for Instagram photos, Santorini is probably the most famous island  in Greece. Located in the southern Aegean Sea,  it is not just the beaches, but the views, cuisine and culture that make the island so popular, with around two million tourists (cruise passengers excluded) visiting each year.

Visitors come to Santorini for the volcano boat tours, the incredible nature, and the authentic Greek food. After a great day exploring the whole island, lying on the beach and enjoying some nice cocktails while watching the sunset is a real treat.

It is also a perfect place for wine lovers, due to a long-established tradition of growing rare grapes native to the island. There are 13 wineries across Santorini and to get the most from your trip, take a winery tour or sample a glass or two at a local restaurant.

The Bahamas

Let’s start with some facts:

- There are 700 islands in The Bahamas

- The waters are so clear that you can see the ocean floor 61m/200 ft below the surface

- The Andros Barrier Reef in The Bahamas is the third-largest living organism on the planet

Is that enough to draw your attention? The crystal-clear waters make it the perfect spot for snorkellers and scuba divers. For ocean lovers, the impressive sealife with rays, seahorses and turtles will leave you in awe. Want to swim along with cute pigs or dive with big tiger sharks? The Bahamas has everything you need.

The culture is the perfect blend of African and European influences. Attend a Junkanoo street parade or just bask in the Bahamian warmth and hospitality to ensure your trip is unforgettable.

Palawan

Nicknamed  the "Last Frontier", Palawan offers visitors dramatic natural scenery and is a one-of-a-kind tropical paradise. The highlight of any trip to the Philippines’ largest province by land area must be the Puerto-Princesa Subterranean River National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Beautiful limestone caves, turquoise waters and unique species represent the amazing nature and wildlife on the island. For diving enthusiasts, the Japanese shipwrecks of Coron Island are regarded as some of the best in the world. With its colourful and distinctive culture, Palawan is one of the most majestic destinations for  a summer getaway
