Brawl on board leads to a cruise being canceled
Instead of enjoying the wonders of the seas, the passengers of the cruise ship "Wonder of the Seas" experienced their proverbial blue wonder. Rather than heading for a relaxing trip to the Caribbean, the once largest ship in the world returned prematurely to its home port - due to a brawl on board.
The passengers of the "Wonder of the Seas" actually wanted to experience the Caribbean on a cruise - soak up the sun, enjoy the beaches and find carefree ease in CocoCay and Nassau in the Bahamas.
But ten days ago, the reality on one of the world's largest cruise ships looked less paradisiacal. The ship had barely left "Port Miami" when it had to turn back again - and not because of technical problems or bad weather.
Cruise ship has to turn back due to brawl on board
The reason was of a human nature: two adult passengers got into such a heated argument that the situation could no longer be brought under control with on-board resources. What began as an argument ended in fisticuffs - and ultimately in injuries that required medical and police treatment on land. The dispute in the middle of the Atlantic led to the abrupt termination of the voyage for more than 7,000 guests.
A cruise ship off course
At first glance, it seems astonishing that an ocean liner with over 2,000 crew members should not be able to separate two squabblers. But the shipping company decided: safety first. So the course was changed - back to Miami, straight into the headlines.
