Non-alcoholic brewer Athletic to launch Netflix collaboration

Geralt’s Gold is the first brew to be launched, coinciding with new series of The Witcher.

Netflix has teamed up with US non-alcoholic brewer Athletic to create a number of limited-edition brews in homage to the hit fantasy drama series, The Witcher.

Geralt’s Gold is the first that will be made available and is described as “highly aromatic with notes of citrus”; it is named after the main character in the show, the launch coinciding with the latest series, due to hit the screens on June 29.

The Witcher is set in a fictional land, the Continent, and follows the legend of characters including Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Princess Ciri. Two more non-alcoholic beers will also be released in the near future.

“There’s no better way to enjoy an award-winning craft brew than paired with one of the most entertaining shows on Netflix,” said Andrew Katz, chief marketing officer of Athletic Brewing Company. “At Athletic, we celebrate storytelling and love taking our brews to unexpected places. That’s why we’re thrilled to partner with one of the original creative streaming services to bring our fans something truly special.”

Athletic is the second largest non-alcoholic beer brand in the US, and the most decorated non-alcoholic brewer in the world. The company’s brews, which launched commercially in 2018, do not rely on alcohol removal techniques, fully fermenting all their beers to be less than 0.5% ABV, the legal limit for non-alcoholic beer in the US.

The Witcher brews will be sold across the US at a number of retailers and on the Athletic brewing website, with the company saying the first 750 customers who order Geralt’s Gold online receiving a free collectible glass that incorporates iconic symbols from The Witcher.
