Latin singer Bad Bunny's performance at Super Bowl LX is the talk of the town. His performance celebrated the South American continent and his home country of Puerto Rico. The web reacts with enthusiasm - and searches for "Puerto Rico" as a travel destination skyrocket.

Latin superstar Bad Bunny caused a sensation with his show at Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026. With his energetic performance in Spanish, he celebrated the South American continent. Bad Bunny also paid homage to Puerto Rico, the singer's home country. What led to Donald Trump's annoyance created enthusiasm online and an increase in search queries for the Caribbean state.

Accompanied by spirited rhythms, Bad Bunny chanted the country names of the South American continent during his performance and paid homage to the country of his birth: Puerto Rico. Around 128.2 million viewers watched the show in the USA alone. Within 24 hours, billions of views were added worldwide via streaming platforms and social media.

Search queries for Puerto Rico increase enormously

One performance - and suddenly an entire island becomes the focus of wanderlust. The response is directly reflected in the requests for vacation destinations; as the comparison portal "Skyscanner" reports, search queries from Germany for the island's capital San Juan rose by 237 percent the very next day. San Juan currently ranks seventh among the most popular long-haul destinations from Germany.

Bad Bunny, real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, comes from Bayamón near San Juan. The 31-year-old is one of the most influential artists of his generation, dominates streaming platforms and made music history at the 2026 Grammy Awards: his album "DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS" was the first Spanish-language work ever to be named "Album of the Year". For many fans, he is not only a pop star, but also a cultural ambassador for his home country.

Puerto Rico is now benefiting from this radiance. The island, a US foreign territory in the Caribbean, combines Latin American culture with American infrastructure. Spanish and English are the official languages and payments are made in US dollars - a mix that makes international travel uncomplicated.

Puerto Rico as an insider tip in the Caribbean

Puerto Rico enchants travelers with pristine beaches, a lush jungle and small, sleepy side islands such as Vieques and Culebra, which offer peace, seclusion and authentic island life. Those who come here immerse themselves in a world that is still comparatively untouched by tourism.

Even the capital San Juan has enough to keep you busy for a longer stay. The old town enchants with pastel-colored colonial buildings, cobbled streets and historic fortresses, including the cathedral built in 1540 and the governor's palace. The old town has been protected as a "National Historic District" since 1972, and yet life still pulsates here; cafés, galleries, bars and small boutiques merge with the colonial architecture to create a lively cityscape that combines tradition with a modern attitude to life.

Once you leave San Juan, the diversity of Puerto Rico reveals itself. Crystal-clear beaches, tropical rainforests such as El Yunque and picturesque coastal districts such as Piñones invite you to relax, discover and enjoy. On the smaller Virgin Islands of Vieques and Culebra, you can still experience untouched nature: secluded bays, wild horses roaming freely through the landscape and a relaxed pace of life characterize the region.

The bioluminescent bays are another highlight. In bays such as Mosquito Bay, tiny marine organisms light up when touched and transform the water into a magical, blue play of light at night - a natural spectacle that amazes visitors.
