Jessica Biel presents her own wine label
Working with winemaker Jesse Katz from Aperture Cellar, the actress has launched the label Prophet & Poet with five wines from Napa Valley.
What started as friend's wedding gift is now a full blown business: When vintner Jesse Katz, a childhood friend of Jessica Biel, gave her and her husband Justin Timberlake a special cask of wine for their wedding in 2012, a seed was planted. The idea sprouted further when Katz followed up with a special cuvée for Biel's brother's wedding seven years later, leading to the founding of their own label, Prophet & Poet. Biel and Katz were able to win over winemakers Christopher and Ariel Jackson from Jackson Family Wines as a grape supplier, while the wines themselves are produced at Katz's own Aperture Cellars.
Cabernet Sauvignon, 2 Chardonnays & 3 Cuvées
Prophet and Poet current has five wines in its lineup: The Black Crown Cabernet Sauvignon, the Cuvée Mountain Sage Proprietary Red (62% Malbec, 18% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot), the Cuvée Mourning Cloak Proprietary Red (70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot), the Ghost Cat Chardonnay and the King Bird Chardonnay. All wines are matured for 18 to 22 months in French oak casks.
The Prophet & Poet collection was officially presented on May 22, 2025, with Biel and Katz serving their wines personally at the BottleRock Festival in Napa Valley on May 24 – just before Justin Timberlake's performance.
What began as a special wedding present from our dear friend Katz has developed into a fully-fledged wine label. Sharing our first tasting in Napa with everyone was nothing short of magical.
