Sunday Opening – restaurants in Linz
The North Indian specialties from the charcoal oven such as "Chicken Tikka" alone justify a visit to the best Indian restaurant in Linz. But Avtar Shashia goes one better with top wines.
The name says it all, but you would be doing this popular steakhouse an injustice to reduce it to just juicy and colossal beef. Tuna, prawns and burritos are just as delicious.
The south of Linz is a gastronomic winner thanks to Da Giulio. Italian dishes such as fish stew or the Calabrian "polpette di salsiccia" make you long to travel to Italy.
The kitchen team does an excellent job of interweaving international trends with classics. Ponzu gives beef tataki an acid twist, while the display soup with wan tan is bursting with power. Very good wine advice.
Liliana Alzesberger comes from Romania, lived in Spain for a while and brought the idea of a bodega and tapas bar to Linz. A gastronomic stroke of luck with good wines and fine fizz.
Wow! Pure luxury and the most expensive burger in Austria with Wagyu beef, served with Osietra caviar cream, Périgord truffles, foie gras and golden fries. But don't worry: there are plenty of cheaper dishes.
Where do you go in Linz at 4 pm for a bite to eat and a drink in a nice atmosphere? Normally it would be "Rien ne va plus", but at Coco you always win. Formidable wines and food.
Leo Duc Hong and his wife Kelly left Linz and set up their new home base in Salzburg. Steel city dwellers need not go hungry: The sushi, both extravagant and classic, has not lost any of its quality.
If Anton Bruckner had known that a restaurant would be named after him, he might have composed a symphony for it. His favourite dish, Geselchtes, is not served here, but the Bürgermeisterschnitzel is.
Linz gastronomy and Günter Hager go together like a proper Wiener Schnitzel and a perfectly tapped beer. Josef offers both. Plus excellent wines and good home cooking.
