Sunday Opening – restaurants in Opatija
This design hotel is perched on the coast like a kind of futuristic bird's nest. Tino Sinožić captures the region and its ingredients through his delicious dishes: fantastic shrimp scampi, asparagus, porcini mushrooms, oysters and fish.
A magical location, in the fairytale port of Volosko. Daniela Kramarić plays the perfect hostess and is also a wonderful sommelier. The plates are a delightful feast for the eyes and mouth. The Mediterranean cuisine, from the classic dishes to the creative, will bring a smile to your lips.
Fantastic location on a hillside, which gives a view over the whole bay. Under new management, chef Denis Beganović is still at work. His fine fish cuisine combines tradition and modernity. The pizza from the wood-fired oven is delicious.
The pretty rustic house with stone walls and wooden ceiling above the Volosko harbour is inviting, the wooden terrace is protected by tall trees. Many locals appreciate the Istrian cuisine with excellent fish and meat dishes.
You sit romantically in a vault with a wooden ceiling that has aged gracefully. What goes on the plate is not decided until the fishermen deliver their catch in the morning. Tuna steak in sesame crust or mussels taste wonderful. Great ricotta pie.
Classics like cevapcici are no longer so common in Croatia - and rarely as good as here. In general, anything grilled is recommended, served with crispy potatoes. Strong red wines from Tomaz in Motovun are ideal companions.
Much more than just a pizzeria - owner and chef Stjepan Dunatov really puts his stamp on the place. His ideas flow into the design of the restaurant as well as the concept. Wood-fired pizza, homemade pasta, octopus salad and grilled dishes are both good and fun.
