Sunday Opening – restaurants in Hvar
Exclusive vacation destination; the resort has grown steadily in recent years and looks like a small village. Cool cocktails come from the bar, and Chef Matko Bukovec's fish cuisine is at its best - creative, light and airy, and full of flavour.
On the first row of the promenade you have a view of the sea from the terrace. Top quality seafood and fish dominate the menu, you should try tuna tataki or gnocchi with crab sauce and lime. Extensive wine list.
Stone walls, palm trees, the furnishings all in white, a terrace facing the sea, and the deep blue water - a setting made in heaven for hedonists. Chef Iva Tomlinovic's cuisine focuses on refined seafood, but there are also enticing organic meat dishes.
The restaurant with the unusual wine cellar under the sea level focuses on exquisite wines. The hosts also make their own wine, which goes well with small Dalmatian specialties such as cheese, ham, fish mousse or marinated sardines.
The dishes in this small picture-book konoba with sea view are simple, but simply good. The gnocchi with beef or rabbit ragout has a lovely texture, from the pan come mussels in tomato broth and braised squid with fried potatoes.
In the cosmopolitan restaurant with intense wall colours, everyone feels at home, whether elegantly dressed or casual. Delicious herbs like rosemary or sage refine dishes like bruschetta, pasta with mussels, fish stew or grilled chicken.
The palace from the 15th century houses a lovely restaurant. Classics are dressed up in modern garb here: the Croatian sushi and kohlrabi lasagna are exciting, continuing with a tomato tart on creamy cheese sauce and lamb goulash.
On the stone terrace you sit under palm trees and enjoy a touch of the Caribbean. Surrounded by the scent of rosemary and lavender, you enjoy the catch of the day, Dalmatian specialties, but also international touches with bulgur or monkfish in white wine.
The large terrace directly on the promenade is always busy. No wonder with the many delicacies coming out of the kitchen: octopus salad, grilled calamari or tuna steak on pea purée. Brunch is also very popular.
