Waterside – restaurants in Zürich
The Pavillon, designed by star architect Pierre-Yves Rochon, is worth a visit not only because of its location in the park of the Baur au Lac. Top chef Laurent Eperon's cuisine combines classic French and modern elements to create an elegant and contemporary whole.
Here, tradition meets modernity, on the menu and in the elegant dining room. The restaurant is a "tribute to Zurich". So you can find a perfect Zürcher Geschnetzeltes and local wines on the menu, but there are also dishes and drinks from exotic climes.
The Obere Triemli has been owned by the same family since 1859 and is now run by the fifth generation with Fabian Gallmann. On the menu are traditional dishes from Switzerland, France and Italy, served in the secluded garden or in the cosy guest rooms.
Directly on the lake, the Fischers Fritz with its long tables and white parasols is almost the Côte d'Azur! As the name suggests, all kinds of fish specialties are served by Adrian Gerny, the only professional fisherman on Lake Zurich.
Wöschi has been under new management since the end of 2022: David Klocksin is in the kitchen, while Stephanie Ospelt is in the dining room. They operate "casual fine dining": there is a daily dinner menu made from fresh seasonal ingredients. On Sunday, brunch classics are served.
The Seerose can be visited by private boat thanks to its own boat moorings. But you can also reach the bistro on the water by car or public transport. It offers French-Mediterranean cuisine and a magnificent view of the lake and mountains.
In summer, the whole of Zurich gathers at the pavilion by the lake, the pumping station. Here you can drink and barbecue: vegetables, sausage, but above all the famous “Pumpi-Spiess”. The food – like the service and the atmosphere – is relaxed and uncomplicated.
Right on the lake and not at all stuffy: Ziegel oh Lac is the restaurant of the former “alternative cultural centre” Rote Fabrik. Here you can enjoy fine dishes and drinks made from organic ingredients with a view of the lake, without ruining yourself financially.
