In Friedenau, the only Jewish member of Berlin's bakers' guild weaves yeast dough into elaborate sweet braids: babkas in various designs such as nougat or poppy seed. You can sit comfortably with a bagel and coffee in the charming beige interior.

Pioneer of the new artisan bakeries in Berlin, which also supply star restaurants, among other things. The house bread is recommended, as are the sweet (poppy seed) snails and steamed and tubular noodles, which are up for grabs at the Moabit branch from midday.

New York-style bagels with or without your choice of toppings, as well as sweet cinnamon knots, cheesecake, and cookies' all are available at this bookstore-café fusion on Warschauer Strasse. Here, bookworms and sweet tooth alike can watch the city bustle from the window seat.

Really good sourdough bread from Albatross in a reduced, cozy atmosphere. The Schöneberg branch is larger and offers lunch and brunch. In Neukölln, it's no less cozy with coffee and almond croissants.

The minimalist artisan bakery smells good even from a distance. Here you'll find sourdough baked goods made from old varieties in organic quality: bread with a wonderful crust, caramelized poppy-seed buns, great rolls, e.g. with whole olives, and coffee from Double Eye.

The minimalist "it" bakery run by Copenhagen gastro legend Frederik Bille Brahe serves justifiably hyped sourdough bread made from ancient grains, focaccia for lunch, and all kinds of sweet baked goods. The Morning Buns are a clear recommendation.

After much Instagram hype, punctuality is the name of the game here. The vegan Italian treats range from maritozzi and girella to classic cornetti, and they sell out quickly. The hazelnut cornetti and olive focaccia are especially good.

In the inconspicuous store on Warschauer Straße, only whole grains are baked. You can choose from innovative creations such as quinoa bread, Inca rolls with kamut, delicious cakes and the highlight: sweet rolls with apple, banana-almond or cashew.
