Ludwig Neumayer, the leading oenological star of the Traisental region for decades, has dedicated his work exclusively to the production of white wine. Wines of extraordinary finesse are produced on barren, stony limestone terroir. Grüner Veltliner and Riesling are the most important varieties. But concentrated Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc also regularly receive top ratings. The top growths bear the name "Der Wein vom Stein". They stem from the highest and stoniest vineyards in the Inzersdorf vineyards - Neumayers Stein. In addition, site wines such as "Zwirch", "Rothenbart" and "Rafasetzen" are also grown in this area. In addition, outstanding solitary wines are pressed under the "Ikon" label.
Ludwig Neumayer's aim is to present a distinctive style, dense wines that at the same time have a lot of freshness. The light colour, which is very typical for Neumayer wines, does not result from a lack of ripeness of the grapes but stems from the unique soils. Another plus of the wines is their marked acid structure. Residual sugar is only tolerated when it really is appropriate to the style of wine in question. In addition, Neumayer does not use any animal protein in the winemaking process.
The sophisticated wines have long since been discovered by Austrian and international top gastronomy. Ludwig Neumayer has already gained listings on wine lists that other winemakers can only dream of, for example in the three-star restaurant "Astrance" or in Alain Ducasse's "Plaza Athénée".
