Caberlot is a accidentally found grape variety that was discovered in the 1960s. The grape variety is most likely a natural cross between Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The only winery that still produces a Caberlot to this day is the Podere Il Carnasciale winery. The vineyard area is just under three hectares. The bottling quantity of the variety is mainly limited to magnum and double magnum, which makes the wine correspondingly expensive and rare. At the same time it became a cult favorite and was highly praised by numerous critics.
