New Icelandic airline "Play" starts operations
Seven destinations in Europe are on the agenda
The new Icelandic airline Play will start operations at the end of June 2021. The airline will initially fly from Reykjavik with three modern Airbus aircraft seven destinations in Europe on.
First Stop: London
From June 24, 2021, the bright red aircraft will fly from Play to various destinations in Europe. The airline's first stop is London Stansted, followed by Tenerife from June 29. Play will make its debut in Germany on July 2, 2021: initially, the aircraft will connect Berlin with Reykjavik four times a week on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
In July, Play will take further flights to Paris, Copenhagen, Alicante and Barcelona on. Tickets can already be booked.
Dream Destination Iceland
Iceland has long been a popular destination for travelers who want to enjoy a breathtaking landscape of mountains, geysers, glaciers, waterfalls and the Northern Lights at any time of year. With a short flight time and affordable flights, Iceland is also a great choice for a weekend getaway. Culture, culinary experiences and first-class hotels attract vacationers. Unusual activities such as whale watching, swimming in geothermal baths, diverse cultural experiences and the special sight of molten lava await in this mystical country.

In 2022, the new airline also plans to Destinations in North America to the route network and thus offer low-cost long-haul travel.
This is what it looks like on board
By the end of July, Play's fleet will comprise three Airbus A321neo aircraft, which are three years old. The flight is operated in a pure Economy Class configuration with 192 seats. Passengers can look forward to an extensive selection of hot and cold dishes and drinks on board, which can be purchased. Contactless payment is possible.
In view of the global COVID-19 situation, Play also has corresponding goodwill regulations in place that give passengers sufficient flexibility for new bookings. Both the crew and passengers are required to wear a mouth and nose cover during the entire flight. The aircraft is cleaned after every flight and is also disinfected daily. The HEPA filters installed by Airbus eliminate 99.9 percent of any virus particles in the cabin air.
