Panini-mania: All'antico Vinaio opens a London branch
Their sandwiches are so famous that people queue for ages just to get one. Now the well-known Florentine panini store All'antico Vinaio is bringing its recipe for success to Soho.
London's gourmets take note: The Italian sandwich store All'antico Vinaio from Florence is expanding to Soho, London – the chain's 48th store and its first in the UK. "Mamma mia, London. I am speechless. We have brought a piece of Italy to London," says owner Tommaso Mazzanti on Instagram.
10 more locations planned
The Mazzanti family opened its first branch in Florence over 30 years ago and has been delighting locals and tourists alike with its home-baked schiacciata and generous fillings ever since. It is considered one of the best street food restaurants in the world and in 2014, All'antico Vinaio was the restaurant with the most reviews on Tripadvisor worldwide.
Ten more locations are to be opened by the end of the year: "It was a really great opening and we are already working on finding more stores," writes Mazzanti. All'antico Vinaio now employs around 700 people worldwide, with annual sales are expected to reach almost €100 million this year.
London Exclusives
The London branch is located on Old Compton Street in the Soho district. In addition to classics such as La Schiacciata del Boss (prosciutto crudo, pecorino, truffle cream and rocket) or La Favolosa (sbriciolona salami, homemade pecorino cream, artichoke cream and spicy eggplant), sandwiches created especially for the London branch can also be ordered. For example, every Sunday there is a sandwich containing a Sunday Roast – as a tribute to the beloved English tradition.
