Equipo Navazos is a different kind of producer entering the international wine world stage. Strictly speaking, this is not a traditional producer, but rather a group of friends, top oenologists and specialists in Spain's very special wine, sherry. They use their network to find and buy the best soleras or barrels in the various bodegas in the three sub-regions, Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlucar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa Maria. They then use these trouvailles to create their own sherries, which have long since caused a sensation both nationally and internationally, breathing fresh life and new momentum into the somewhat forgotten region with its unique wine styles. What makes their creations so unique is that Equipo Navazos not only looks for and finds first-class barrels, but also precisely those in which the terroir of the region, such as the chalky Albariza soils of Sanlucar de Barrameda, are expressed with a strong character. In this respect, these sherries are unique and one-of-a-kind. However, the oenologists do not stop there. In addition to the sherries, they also produce dry, unfortified wines from the traditional sherry grape varieties Palomino and Pedro Ximenez, which are matured for several months in sherry barrels and develop the typical flor yeast layer. These wines are extremely authentic with their own, very original character that goes beyond the mainstream. The company's sparkling wines are also brilliant, and the long-forgotten and now very rare dessert wine Fondillon, a noble sweet wine made from Monastrell grapes from Cigales and Alicante, is also celebrating its renaissance here. Not only is it a unique and almost taste-explosive wine, it also has an almost immeasurable certain ageing potential. There is no question that Equipo Navazos has enriched the Spanish wine world with exciting and thrilling facets.
