The mastermind behind Hidden Treasures is the well-known Austrian winemaker Roland Velich, who has caused an international sensation with his Blaufränkisch red wines. He has spent years exploring the best terroirs in Burgenland to elicit the finest nuances of this multi-layered variety from old Blaufränkisch vines. Hidden Treasure is the continuation of the idea that led Roland Velich to develop Moric, the attempt to capture a region as purely and directly as possible: traditional old methods and complete trust in the given substance, an ancient wine culture that has been successful for centuries and is a world leader, the soils and climate of the Pannonian plain - a lowland plain that stretches from the last hills of the Eastern Alps along the Carpathian arc - the grape varieties that have proven suitable and valuable over long periods of time, and of course the people. Roland Velich has decided to follow this path together with young innovative winegrowers, winegrowers who are ready to embark on this journey in a similar way. Starting this journey now is important to him: "It is time to make this great wine culture accessible to the public again in an original and authentic form." For the treasures from Hungary, he is currently working with Gergö Filep from Tokaj, Kis Tamás from Nagy-Somlói and Villa Tolnay on Lake Balaton. Here it is the traditional Pannonian Furmint variety that is presented in its various facets.
