The Auer family's organic winery is a traditional business that has been producing wines with character and a personal signature for years through quality, sustainability and innovation, reflecting the family's passion for nature and viticulture. "By, for and with nature" - that is the Auers' motto. This is why the winery cultivates its 23 hectares of vineyards according to organic principles, as sustainability and preserving the heritage for future generations are very important to the family business. 45 percent of the vineyard area is dedicated to the Burgundy varieties Pinot Noir and St. Laurent, the organic estate's flagship varieties.
The terroir of the wines is characterised by both slopes and wide plains, giving them their unmistakable character. On the plains, the limestone gravel soils are particularly permeable; the moisture after heavy rainfall is quickly drained away. The soils heat up considerably when exposed to sunlight. St. Laurent and Pinot Noir grow particularly well on the poor, stony soils. Heavy soils such as loamy clay, sandy loam and brown earth with a high proportion of shell limestone, formed by the remains of mussels and snails, can be found on the slopes. This forms the perfect basis for the indigenous varieties Rotgipfler and Zierfandler as well as for the white Burgundy varieties. The winery is a member of the "Die Burgundermacher" association and has also been one of the nine "Traditionsweingüter Österreich" in the Thermenregion since 2022.
