Every winery has its own history, and that of Juris goes back a particularly long way, to the year 1571. For many generations, the Stiegelmar family in Gols, Burgenland, has been producing high-quality wines and was also instrumental in the Austrian red wine miracle. Since 1995, Axel and Herta Stiegelmar have been continuing the tradition of winemaking and today stand above all for outstandingly diverse wines.
The fact that modernity is also an integral part of the well-known Gols winery is particularly evident in the contemporary cellar architecture. The modern equipment allows for gentle handling of the grapes using gravity, and thanks to optimal insulation, the right storage temperature is achieved without any external energy. "It's the wide range of products that sets Juris apart," says Axel Stiegelmar. On closer inspection, you discover that he and his wife have a preference for Burgundy alongside the local grape varieties, such as Pinot Noir and St. Laurent, which they have selected from the best vines.
Of the top red wines, the cuvées "St. Georg" and "Ina'mera" as well as the unique "Tricata" are impressive - complex character wines that thrive wonderfully in the warm Pannonian climate. Special attention is paid to the individually fermented single vineyard wines. The variety is rounded off by the Burgundy varietal Pinot Noir wines from Haide, Hochreit and Breitenteil, the charming St. Laurent Ried Goldberg, the powerful Blaufränkisch Ried Ungerberg and the exotic Chardonnay Ried Altenberg. In addition to the Chardonnay Alte Reben, the fragrant Sauvignon Blanc and the aromatic Muskat Ottonel and Gewürztraminer varieties are at the top of the white wine list. The red Strohwein is also typical of Burgenland. Its seductive residual sweetness is wonderfully complemented by the spiciness of the Blaufränkisch grape. Pet Nat from the Muskat Ottonel grape is also a brand new addition to the range.
