The Klosterhof winery is a closed farm and is located at 450 meters above sea level, just outside the wine village of Kaltern. Mainly Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Vernatsch are cultivated on five hectares of vineyards at 350 to 530 meters above sea level. The vineyards, some of which have been in the family for generations, are cultivated with a great deal of manual labor, respect for nature and attention to detail. The vineyards, locally called "Rigel", with the names "Barleit", "Panigl", "Plantaditsch", "Trifall" and "Vial", are mainly characterised by the eroded limestone gravel of the Mendel Mountains. By avoiding chemical fertilisers and pesticides as well as irrigation, the differences between the vineyards increase, which benefits the complexity of the wines. The right time of harvest, hand-picking in small containers and further selection on the sorting table form the basis for the wines of Oskar and Hannes Andergassen, some of which are fermented spontaneously. The Klosterhof also includes a cozy Vinum Hotel in the middle of the vineyards.
