The Rheinhessen Switzerland region, where Sina Mertz runs her winery, is one of the most geologically interesting corners of Rheinhessen. And the winemaker utilises this advantageous location to create wines such as the Eckelsheim local Riesling "Porphyr" that focuses entirely on the terroir. Or, as with the Chardonnay Landwein - use it as a picturesque backdrop for a smooth, culinary experience. Due to frost, the winery cannot utilise its resources fully this year. But it is in improvisation that its mastery becomes evident: the "Cuvée Frost" deserves high praise.
