The red wine Amarone Classico della Valpolicella, vintage 1964 from the winery Bertani has been rated in 2022 by Othmar Kiem & Simon Staffler with 98 Falstaff points.
Clear garnet with a light rim. Smells of beeswax, linoleum, Earl Grey tea, dried tomatoes and pickled cherries. Very good tension, crisp and salty, very drinkable, fine-meshed tannins, becomes increasingly pithy towards the finish, long finish, lots of sweet texture.
