The red wine Amarone Classico della Valpolicella, vintage 1997 from the winery Bertani has been rated in 2022 by Othmar Kiem & Simon Staffler with 95 Falstaff points.
Brilliant, intense ruby with a slightly orange rim. Opens with notes of dried tomato, also dried plum, plus light notes of iodine and tar. Radiant on the palate, lots of juicy fruit with a fine texture, hearty, gripping tannin in many layers, lots of ripe plum and cherry, long finish.
