The red wine La Valentina Bellovedere Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, vintage 2017 from the winery La Valentina has been rated in 2022 by Anne Krebiehl with 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Montepulciano from the region Abruzzo in Italy.
The nose is shy at first but more air slowly reveals notes of spiced cherry. Both sweet and Morello cherry feature in this complex fruit, spiced with a touch of tobacco and cinnamon and a notion of polished mahogany. The palate has firm, taut but very fine tannins that are still a little drying, standing it in good stead for the future. There is ample freshness and a real concentration of fine, pure, aromatic cherry notions. An arch-Italian wine made for ageing. Very elegant and with a lasting finish.
