The red wine Cepparello Vino da Tavola, vintage 1988 from the winery Isole e Olena has been rated in 2020 by Peter Moser with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Sangiovese from the region Tuscany in Italy.
Clear, dark garnet red. An appealing nose initially shows tobacco then lots of blackberry fruit - it smells very compact, with accents of cedar. The palate brings a juicy attack, ripe dark berry fruit and lots of polished, fine-grained tannins which give the wine great length. Echoes of cedar on the finish.
