The port Niepoort Colheita Port DOC, vintage 1912 from the winery Niepoort has been rated in 2016 with 100 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the region Douro in Portugal.
Medium amber in colour with a broad ochre rim and subtle green reflections. Aromas of fine caramelized nuts, grapefruit zest, dark nougat, and a hint of pumpernickel, with a very fresh rancio touch. The substantial, highly elegant palate seems almost dry today, with great acidity, subtle orange fruit and dark chocolate notes on the fresh finish, which shows a vinous character. Perfect, timeless, a simply great wine. Bottled in 1972.
