The red wine Opta Alfrocheiro, vintage 2017 from the winery Quinta da Giesta has been rated in 2021 by Ulrich Sautter with 92 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Alfrocheiro Preto from the region Dao in Portugal.
Peppery on the nose, ethereal herbs, also sour cherry, restrained wood (a hint of caramel), quite clear and with good freshness. The palate is characterised by dense, fine-grained tannins, nothing astringent despite the concentration, the alcohol is integrated, the initially mild acidity pleasingly gains presence on the palate. Smooth background, good harmony.
