The fortified wines Quinta de Vargellas, vintage 1968 from the winery Taylor’s has been rated in 2018 by Peter Moser with 92 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the region Douro in Portugal.
Medium crimson garnet, subtle amber reflections, broad ochre rim. Ripe sweet fruit nuances with prunes and honey, but also hints of raspberries, fine spice nuances and some nougat, subtle iodine undertone. Medium complexity, pleasant sweetness, but already seems somewhat loosely knit due to age. Subtle dark berry notes on the finish, mineral and elegant, should be consumed promptly, has its best years already behind it.
