The white wine Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett VDP. Große Lage Vintage Collection, vintage 2009 from the winery Weingüter Wegeler – Gutshaus Mosel has been rated in 2019 by Ulrich Sautter with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Riesling from the region Moselle in Germany.
Some oak barrel, tangerine, turmeric, grated lemon zest, and hints of savoury and peppery notes coming from the slate soil. Overall, not very open yet. Fresh acid attack, juicy, textured, even still slightly fizzy. Compactly built wine, but not fatty. Despite the warm vintage, a very typical Kabinett with plenty of traction and excellent ageing potential. Ginger-like aromas on the finish.
