The red wine »Johann Jakob Alte Reben« Spätburgunder trocken, vintage 2023 from the winery Weingut Heinz Nikolai Inhaber Frank Nikolai has been rated in 2025 by Ulrich Sautter with 90+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Pinot Noir from the region Rheingau in Germany.
Leathery, peaty aroma, reminiscent of smoked bacon. Strong wood dominance makes it difficult for the fruit to reach the nose. Aronia berries, vivid acidity and soft, ripe tannins on the palate. Flavour and fruit go hand in hand. A fine selection of smoked sausages is an excellent accompaniment.
